The Volkovysk forestry was organized in 1939 on the basis of state-owned forests in Poland, as well as forest plots belonging to individual landowners, monasteries, banks, etc. As of January 1, 1940, the forestry consisted of 6 forestries (Volkovysk, Lyskovsky, Mostovsky, Porozovsky, Rosokovsky and Yalovsky) with a total area of 58919 hectares and was part of the Bialystok Territorial Administration of Forest Protection and Afforestation.

During the period of the Nazi occupation, a significant part of the documentary materials was destroyed, the forests were rapaciously destroyed. After liberation in 1944, Volkovysk forestry resumed its activities. The first post-war forest inventory of the forestry forestry was carried out in 1952.

The Volkovysk forestry is located in the southwestern part of the Grodno region on the territory of the Volkovysk, Svisloch, Berestovitsky, Mostovsky and Zelvensky administrative districts. According to the forest zoning of the forest, the Volkovysk forestry belongs to the subzone of spruce-hornbeam oak forests of the Nemansko-Podlessky forest region.
